    A wonderful store full of cross stitch and needlepoint/canvas work goodies (about 50/50 xs and needlepoint). Lots of fibers, overdyeds, special threads. A good stash of Shepherd's Bush kits and fliers--they had all the stockings kitted up, plus many of the favorites (Fair Phil, the "Moons", the "Gatherers", etc.) Good selection of fabrics, buttons, some frames. They will order things for you and mail them if you request it. In addition to needlework, they also have cute gifts (Lizzie High Dolls, Mary Englebreit boxes, etc.) Worth a trip if you're in the West Texas area! -- {Sandra}

    It is a wonderful shop located in Old Town Spring, north of Houston. It is housed in a town composed of restored vintage buildings. They have a key tag program, a great selection of the ever popular SB needlerolls, fabric cut to size off of the bolt, great selection of specialty fibers, and best of all, they are open on Sundays! There are several nice lunch places, and lots of shops to wander in and out of. -- {Shelley}

    Eastside of El Paso, near Yarbrough/Edgemere and Montana Streets. This is my all-time favorite shop!! Owned by Nanci. Nanci is wonderful at showing every customer what's new, what's ordered, what they're working on, classes (yes, classes!) and introduces you to the other customers in the shop! She personally greets everyone, even if she's in the back of the shop! Every fall (September), she organizes a stitch camp in the mountains or Cloudcroft, NM and has classes of what was learned from market AND she brings out all the goodies they've received from market and let the campers be the first to buy -- exclusively for two whole days!! She is extremely creative and she and Lynda love to stitch shop models in specialty fabrics and fibers and add lots of flair without being gawdy!! Only complaint, they don't frame, but they do suggest different ways of finishing projects! Also has a key tag program, they can keep the key in a file for you so you'll never forget it! -- {Susan Curiel}

  • Ginger's Needlearts and Framing

    The #1 best cross stitch store in Texas. Staff is wonderful and Ginger is the best. Huge selection of charts (well organized too!), fibers, fabric, buttons, all the latest stuff. Great classes, newsletters, etc. Right off of Interstate 35, which is the main north-south artery between Dallas and San Antonio through Austin. -- {Sandy}

    I have been to this shop a few times and love the folks there. They have all the supplies and offer suggestions, plus they have framing and wonderful classes. (something Dallas doesn't offer-we're so deprived). They put out a newsletter to tempt you into the shop for these great classes by designers-a special treat! -- {Susan Curiel}

    NE corner of Coit and Arapaho. They just moved to this location in the spring and are able to spread their wings a little more. She is always looking for ways to make her customers happy! Working on building her shop model displays. Carries specialty fibers and fabrics, plus countless charts and kits. Also carries needlepoint canves and yarn. She's offering classes taught by her staff and experienced stitchers -- good class prices, and various levels too! She offers a club membership for an annual fee that offers a discount off every purchase instead of key tags and monthly discounts to members only. -- {Susan Curiel}

  • Aidaworks
    1134 West Main
    Lewisville, Texas
    Phone: (972) 436-5999
    Best shop in the Dallas area; located about 20 minutes north of Dallas off Interstate 35; charts, kits, buttons, fibers, fabrics, frames, all the latest. -- {Sandy}

    Off I-35E, northwest of Dallas. This shop has EVERYTHING except classes. They have framing and all the fibers and fabrics, plus alot of charts by designers not found on Hoffman. Some of the staff are eager to help, and some are a bit stuffy, just depends on who's there. But, I've never been disappointed when I went there looking for something. Sorry, I have mixed feelings about this shop as I've found others do to, but they do have everything and just about every popular design stitched up and hanging on the walls or wherever they can put it!! Big PLUS! They have a key tag program, but you have to know to ask them, they don't offer it. -- {Susan Curiel}

    Kathie's shop is better than a candy shop!!!! She specializies in crossstitch, needlepoint, and has added a corner for rughookers! She has racks of fabric, baskets of fun buttons, displays of beads, walls of specialty threads, plus all the usual threads, and loads of pattern books and kits everywhere, even baskets of the small patterns scattered around. Some gift items as well, tote bags, scissors, etc. The shop is well laid out making it easy to find your favorite designer. Plus, the samples hanging on the walls are something to behold! You feel encouraged and excited to try something new. She is willing to help in everyway with finding something, suggesting something, or just listening. You never go into her shop that the "work table" does not have ladies busy with their handwork. There is always fun going on at The Stitching Post, located at the southeast corner of Wadley and Midkiff! -- Judith

    Shop is located north of Houston, west of I 45. This shop has a wonderful supply of fabric, that you can purchase off the bolt, which is a plus in my book! Very helpful with what ever questions that you might have, very friendly! They send out a wonderful news letter of new items that are out there and lots of fabulous classes are taught at this store! I live over an hour drive from here, but it is worth the drive if there is something that I need to actually see in person! They have what is called a STITCH IN, from 7:00pm to 7:00am, an all nighter, stitching and eating is the order of the night! I have not personally attended, but plan on doing so one of these days, what a novel idea!!!!!!!!!! -- {Ginny #2 TX}
